American Consulate to streamline visa services in India

The American Consulate General's office in Mumbai is extending courier services to Goa, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat and some other metros in western India, to streamline and facilitate the issuing of US visas in the country. At a meet organised by the All India Association of Industries (AIAI) in Mumbai last week, Fedrick Polasky, Chief of the Consular Section (Visa) invited suggestions for effective functioning of the visa section and ideas on how better to serve the Indian citizens.

AIAI President Vijay Kalantri claimed that India ``exports'' the largest percentage of immigrants, especially software professionals and space researchers to the US. ``India contributes a large percentage of immigrants to the US and a sizable population of the Indian immigrant community is tasting huge success in the high-tech information technology sector in North America. Economic globalisation in India and high percentage of software exports to the US has caused the American consular mission in Mumbai to ensure that the Visa section functions without any major hitch. The business class is a frequent visitor to the US, following growing business opportunities in both the countries. Foreign and Non Indian Resident (NRI) investments from the US in India and software exports to US have opened the gates wide for travel between India and America,'' said Kalantri.

Kalantri also talked about Boston Education and Software Technologies Limited (BESTL), a Mumbai-based software firm, which has designed a software programme which would help the White House nominees to avoid paper work involved in recording their antecedents for appointment to high positions in the US administration run by Bill Clinton's successor. BESTL is facilitating the channel to the new American President, the most powerful person in the world, helping him to pick up the best talent, to assist him in running the US administration.

The new US President generally carts along with him around 7000 important persons to the White House. These persons are nominated to senior level positions in the White House based on the report and approval of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Senate and White House. The antecedents provided by the persons, are thoroughly scrutisinised and approved for nomination by the US administration. BESTL being hired to develop the software for speeding up the enlisting of the nominees to senior positions in the White House administration, is a clear indication that Indian software exports are rated highly in the US by Amercian businessmen and US administrators, opines Kalantri.
