 National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE)  

NITIE logoThe National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), established in 1963 by the Government of India with the assistance of a United Nations Development Project (UNDP), is one of the leading Institutes for Management Education in the country. NITIE is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), Government of India, and is governed by a board of directors, comprising eminent personalities from the government, academicians and industry leaders.

NITIE director, Thomas MatthewThe Institute has been offering a Post Graduate Programme in Industrial Management since 1994, which is . recognised by the All India Council Of Technical Education. The course is designed along the lines of a similar course conducted by the School of Management, Massachussets Institute of Technology, USA.

Duration of the course - Two years.

Benefits of doing the course - The Post Graduate Programme in Industrial Management is equivalent to a Master of Technology degree and is recognised by AICTE, and the HRD Ministry, Government of India.

NITIE HostelEligibility - For a Post graduate Diploma in Industrial Management you must be a graduate in any branch of engineering/Technology or equivalent. The candidate must have a first class degree(55% in case of SC and ST).

Fees- The fees for the course will be Rs 70,000/- per annum. Hostel charges- Rs 12,000/- per annum .A non-refundable fee of Rs 1200/- per year is to be paid towards e-mail and internet facilities.

Loan Facility- Under Gyan Jyoti scheme of State Bank of India, loans for higher studies are available against collateral.

Seats- Ninety seats are available for the course. Of these, 15% seats are reserved for SC , 7.5% for ST and 5% for handicapped candiates. If candidates from these categories are not available these seats will be filled up by general candidates..

Procedures for admission- 300 marks written test.

Important Dates-
Forms are available from 3rd October, 2000 to 20 December, 2000
Last date for receipt of completed forms- 25th December.
Date of Examination- 28th January 2001, 10am.
Course Starts- July 2001.

Management Development Programme(MDP)- About 150 short term programmes of one to two weeks' duration.
